Short Bio

Essex/Suffolk based singer-songwriter Ady Johnson’s timeless songs and consummate live performances, continue to win him plaudits from critics and audiences alike. 

Described by Americana UK as ‘Kitchen-sink romanticism worthy of Ray Davies’, Ady’s music draws upon folk, rock, blues and Americana to fuse a unique acoustic style of his own. Albums Tell the Worry Dolls (2011),  London Songs (2018) and Thank You for the Good Things Ep (2015) received critical praise from RnR, Acoustic Magazine, Blues Matters and others.

Ady has toured the UK, France and the US and played numerous tour supports for Ivor Novello Award-winner Scott Matthews across the UK and Ireland. His many festival appearances include Latitude festival in Suffolk.

DJ’s, including Tom Robinson (BBC Radio 6 Music), have championed Ady’s work and his last single The Runner  was chosen for BBC Essex’s ‘Weekly Vibe’. Recorded live and with minimal overdubs, the single served as a blueprint for Ady’s forthcoming third album Under Gainsborough Skies.
